A 2-year-old boy is safe after he had to be rescued from a locked car.
Officials say the incident happened at a North Babylon gas station Thursday afternoon.
When the mother put her son in the backseat, police say she left her keys in the car and shut the door, which caused the doors to lock.
Officers then arrived to break the drivers side window open and pull out the child, who they say was sweating.
The boy was put inside a police car to cool off before being evaluated at the hospital.
The mother was not charged.
