A lockdown has been lifted at East Meadow schools this evening after several people reported seeing a man walking nearby with a rifle.

Two workers at the Reckson building on Hempstead Turnpike say they saw a man walking along a footpath with what they say was a gun at around 12:15 p.m.

Nassau police put the office complex and the East Meadow schools on lockdown for several hours.

Police say they performed a thorough search of the area but did not find anyone who fit the description.
