Coastal communities on Long Island were on high alert as Tropical Storm Fay hit the region and brought the potential for damaging floods.
Mike Chichester is like many Lindenhurst residents who weren't really phased by the storm. In fact, many have developed a "go with the flow" attitude when it comes to any kind of rain.
"I'm just going to stay home. It's gonna be a foot and half of water - so I ain't gonna go anywhere," said Chichester.
"It floods every day, even if it rains a little. It floods up to the lawn," says Mike Knipper. "There's nothing I can do. I just accept it."
Many residents in the area of Ninth Street say they usually bring their cars up to Montauk Highway for higher ground when it rains.
Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone issued a warning for residents Friday, "If you're traveling, and we encourage people to avoid travel if you can, but if you are traveling during heavy rain, please drive with care and do not attempt to drive over a flooded road."
As the storm moved out, the chance for flooding remained, with high tide coming overnight.
