(AP) - The estranged husband of a womanwho was found shot to death in a Huntington Village bagelstore was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder.
Suffolk police spokeswoman Audrey Marrone said 66-year-oldRobert Anderson was arrested at his sister's home at 232 AvalonCircle in St. James, hours after Ann Anderson's body was foundearly Friday inside Super Bagel at 24 Wall Street, in Huntington'sshopping district.
Robert Anderson is expected to be arraigned on second-degreemurder charges Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.He has no previous criminal record.
Suffolk Detective Lieutenant Jack Fitzpatrick told reportersthat police received a report of gunshots shortly after 5 a.m. andfound 39-year-old Ann Anderson in the store.
Police said the Andersons were still legally married and had no legal separation agreement, but didn't live together and wereapparently discussing divorce.
Ann Anderson, of 5 Farmview Drive in Dix Hills, had an order of protection against her husband, but it didn't include theirbusiness in Huntington. The couple had four children.
Fitzpatrick said Robert Anderson told police he knew that hiswife didn't lock the door of the store after she opened and went into discuss how to divide their assets. He told detectives thatbecame enraged, shot her in the side and then stood over her atclose range and shot her in the head. An employee in the storecalled police.
