Human remains that were found in a barrel in New Jersey earlier this month have been identified as those of a woman who was born in Greenwich.

Police say the body in the container is 42-year-old Nicole Flanagan.

Flanagan, who had been living in the Bronx, was last seen outside of an apartment building in lower Manhattan.

Investigators are still trying to figure out when and how she died.

The remains were discovered on Aug. 13.
