Hundreds of Long Islanders took part Thursday in the 33rd annual David Lerner Associates Police Appreciation 5K Run at Eisenhower Park.
The run supports local police officers dealing with a family crisis or financial and health-related problems.
The event has provided over $500,000 to Long Island police families over the years.
