The Babylon Town Board has passed a resolution lowering dog licensing fees for the summer.
The fees will range from $1 to $18 between July 1 and September 30. Residents will save anywhere from $5 to $27 dollars with the lower pricing.
Officials say the goal is to make it easier for dog owners to find their pet if they get lost.
"It is illegal not to have your dog licensed. So, in my opinion, it's a lot easier to pay one dollar between July 1 and September 30 than pay a $250 fine,” said Democrat state Sen. Monica Martinez. “This would also protect your dog, and your family from losing that little special one."
One and three year dog licenses are available to purchase online.
