It’s been a cornerstone of the Hicksville community for more than four decades, but soon Peppercorns Restaurant will close its doors for good.

Co-owners Sean Costello and James Madden say the difficult decision was made because the restaurant had been struggling to stay afloat since the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the restaurant prepares to close, a new effort is underway to preserve the building, which was constructed in the late 1800s.

Peppercorns will remain open until July 31
