A former Long Island Rail Road employee charged with lying about an inspection prior to a 2019 derailment has been sentenced to one year of probation, according to officials.
In 2023, Stuart Conklin
pleaded guilty to falsely claiming he inspected an electrical rail component in April 2019.
Investigators say that led to a signal failure ending with two trains colliding in Speonk a month later.
No injuries were reported.
