For the first time in its 68-year history, the U.S. Women's Open was held in the Hamptons this weekend and before the big event News 12 Long Island's Elisa DiStefano got to spend some one-on-one time with professional golfer Cristie Kerr.

Kerr is the first American female golfer to rank number one in the world. She was the U.S. Open champion back in 2007 and is also a 16-time LPGA winner.

The professional golfer told Elisa that having the championship in the Hamptons was important to her since many of her friends and family live on Long Island.

Kerr also took some time to give Elisa some tips on her putting skills. "Rock your shoulders back-and-forth, very little hand action and just keep your head still," Kerr says.
