A Florida woman was arrested and charged in connection with the theft of more than $50,000 from a Roosevelt nonprofit organization following an alleged banking fraud scheme.

Nassau County police say the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County was contacted on May 5, 2026, by a person who the organization believed was a representative of M&T Bank. During the interaction, a worker provided requested account information.

On May 13, 2026, M&T Bank notified the organization that 21 wire transfer attempts totaling $1,029,132.40 had been made from its account. Police said $50,314 was successfully transferred from the nonprofit's business account.

Detectives identified 28-year-old Nicole Ramirez, of Orlando, Florida, as the suspect, following an investigation by the Electronics Squad's Fraud and Forgery Section.

Ramirez surrendered to detectives at Nassau County's First Precinct and was taken into custody.

She is charged with grand larceny, was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead and pleaded not guilty.

Ramirez will return to court on Nov. 2 in Mineola.
