Officials are investigating the cause of a blaze at a home in Nassau County Sunday night.

The Bellmore Fire Department was alerted for an electrical fire around 8:30 p.m. on Saint Marks Avenue between Clarendon Street and Merrick Road.

Upon arrival, Second Assistant Chief James Constantin reported flames coming from the outside electrical panel and smoke showing from the basement windows.

During primary searches, the house was found to be unoccupied with smoke throughout and fire coming up into the first floor from the basement.

Approximately 75 firefighters from six local volunteer departments got the scene under control in less than an hour, fire officials say.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office and the Nassau Police Arson/Bomb Squad.
