Police say a dog is being credited for saving a boy and his grandma from a house fire in Brentwood.

The incident happened on Hagen Street early yesterday morning.

According to police, the grandmother and her 9-year-old grandson were inside sleeping when the fire started. Their Mastiff mix named Bear woke up the pair.

The homeowner says the big dog jumped onto her bed and was relentless in waking her up.

The dog was recently adopted from the Islip Animal Shelter.
