A recently hired employee at Smithtown High School East is under investigation over "troubling" social media posts.
Police say no crime was committed, but parents and students are still very concerned over the post.
Some parents told News 12 off camera they are not sending their kids to school Thursday.
The school is not saying if the employee is a teacher or another member of the staff, or what exactly was posted online.
Right now, all that the district and police are saying is that a recently hired employee has been reassigned after allegedly posting troubling content on social media.
Administrators say they called police over what was shared online, after concerns were raised by a member of the community.
Suffolk police say they looked into the content posted by the school employee over the past several months and determined the posts are not criminal and there are no credible threats.
The employee was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to police.
In a letter to parents the district says there is no threat to the school.
The employee has been reassigned pending an investigation. News 12 also reached out to the school to ask if the employee went through a background check and have not heard back.
