District officials say a new employee at Smithtown High School East was reassigned because of some troubling social media posts.
The principal sent a letter to parents on Wednesday saying it called police after "building administration was made aware of a series of troubling social media posts that were made by a recently hired employee."
Police tell News 12 they investigated those posts and determined that no crime was committed, and that there were no credible threats.
The unnamed employee was then taken to a hospital for an evaluation.
The district had said the worker had been reassigned, pending an investigation.
