Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash on the Southern State Parkway in Nassau County Thursday night.

The Lakeview Fire Department responded to the collision on the eastbound side of the parkway at Exit 17, which is Hempstead Avenue, in Malverne.

Upon arrival, crews encountered an overturned car on scene with one person trapped inside, fire officials say.

Two people were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of serious injuries via Lakeview and Northwell EMS units.

The incident involved a total of five vehicles and closed all eastbound lanes for more than two hours.

News 12 has reached out to state police for more information on crash and are waiting to hear back.
