A Queens mom accused of attempting to use a forged prescription to get painkillers was arraigned today.
Cheryl Shearer, of Bayside, was arraigned on 24 counts, including endangering the welfare of a child. Shearer was arrested Wednesday after trying to fill the prescription at an East Meadow Walgreens. According to officials, her 8-year-old son and 10-week-old baby were in the car at the time.
Police say Shearer has attempted to fill forged prescriptions at several pharmacies in Nassau County over the past three months.
Shearer's father, Anthony, says his daughter has had an on-again, off-again problem with prescription drugs for a long time. He says it flared up again after she had a C-section delivery for her second child.
Shearer is being held on more than $60,000 bond. She is due back in court next week.
