The Jericho community came together on Sunday to celebrate the birthday of a young man who was diagnosed with a rare lung disease.
Nico Vigliotti turns 19 on Wednesday. He was born with a rare chromosome disorder that took a tough turn in July, when he was hospitalized for six weeks and was on a ventilator and life support.
"There were moments we thought we were going to lose him, and I have to tell you, his will became stronger than his illness," said his mother, Debbie.
Vigliotti is home now, and he's still fighting. He's now preparing for a double lung transplant.
His family, friends and members of the community threw him the birthday bash of his dreams on Sunday.
The Long Island Exotics Club brought out 32 exotic cars to help encourage him to keep fighting. He received plenty of gifts and also got a custom Bugatti cake made by Buddy Valastro of TLC's "Cake Boss."
Vigliotti's family has set up a fundraising page for him.
