A bill that would have allowed people to sue for "fertility fraud" was dropped in Hartford.
It was a defeat at the state Capitol for dozens of people who say they were secretly fathered by a fertility doctor.
The Legislature's Judiciary Committee dropped the bill on Monday.
A lawsuit claims Dr. Burton Caldwell fraudulently impregnated at least 23 of his own patients.
Several of his offspring begged lawmakers to make it easier to sue.
The chairman said the current language has too many issues but promised to take it up next year.
