Dozens of residents spoke out against two proposals to develop a piece of land in East Setauket.
Northville Industries hosted the meeting Monday at Ward Melville High School.
The meeting was originally scheduled for last month, but because so many people showed up, it was shut down for safety concerns.
The property in question is on Belle Meade Road.
One plan is for a 220,000-square-foot warehouse and the other is for 140 units of multi-family housing.
Those who came out to the meeting say they felt like they didn't have much of a choice, but wanted to get Northville Industries to consider other options.
Northville Industries, however, says it plans on developing one project or the other. A representative for the company says they believe building a housing complex would be more beneficial to both themselves and the community.
No decision has been made, but Northville Industries say they are going to take the public's input into consideration.
