Thousands are gearing up for a Westchester County tradition, the Music Fest & Fireworks at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
"Usually, you get over here around 12, 12:30," said Mount Pleasant resident Jason Collins.
Getting here early is the key for a lot of folks.
"We get here as early as possible," said Malik Thompson, who lives in Valhalla.
It's Thompson's 5th year coming.
"It's a spectacular view. It's a great place to have fireworks; a lot of coordination takes place beforehand," said Kyle Peterson, who is with Westchester County Parks.
Safety is included in the coordination. People in charge tell News 12 that emergency crews are on hand.
Thompson says he came prepared for the heat.
"We have lots of water, we have Gatorade, we have bags of ice and then we picked a spot under the shade so we can stay cool," Thompson tells News 12.
The fireworks are scheduled for around 9 p.m.
