A potential heat wave could arrive just in time for the holiday. The extreme heat warning kicks in at noon on Wednesday, with potential record-setting temperatures in the cards later on.

Over in Edison, the splash park was a popular choice Tuesday afternoon.

Over at Cranford Theater, in Cranford, the temperature is turned way down.

“We have 'Toy Story 5,'" said owner Doreen Sayegh. "Tomorrow we open 'Minions and Monsters.' Next week, we open the live-action 'Moana,' 'The Odyssey' by Christopher Nolan, and then we have 'Spider-Man [Brand New Day]' coming up at the end of this month.”

Before the extreme heat, it’s been a summer marked by rainy weekends - which has helped the theater.

“We’re off to a very good start. We had a rainy Memorial Day weekend," said Sayegh. "I hate to say it, but we do love a rainy holiday weekend.”

The theater is running a toy drive to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital. That runs through the end of July.
