Garbage truck fire leaves trash piled at Taco Bell in New Rochelle

A garbage truck caught fire, leaving its contents piled in a Taco Bell parking lot Friday morning in New Rochelle.

Authorities say they first received reports about the incident at around 8:30 a.m.

Officials affiliated with the garbage truck company told News 12 that the worker behind the wheel noticed fire and smoke while driving.

The company says workers are instructed to find the nearest parking lot and dump the garbage load in the event of a fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
