Massapequa cheerleaders set up dunk tank to raise money for those battling cancer

Cheerleaders in Massapequa are raising money to fight cancer in honor of one of their own.

The team set up a dunk tank outside a restaurant on Central Avenue to raise money for survivors and patients battling cancer.

News 12 is told that it the event is for Jennifer Lacalandra, co-president of the team and a six-year survivor of breast cancer.

“Now I want to raise money for people that health insurance won’t cover physical therapy or other breast cancer needs,” Lacalandra says. “I wanna give back as much as I can.”

All proceeds will be donated to New York Breast Reconstruction Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy.
