Drawings of two swastikas and male genitals were found scrawled in chalk on the playground at Wohseepee Park in Brightwaters this past weekend.
Rabbi Shimon Stillerman's two young children play in the park. He says he hopes it's an isolated incident.
Marguerite Hachem, a mother of three, was also disgusted. She calls it "a shame" and says children often don't know the story behind swastikas.
The symbols have been removed from the playground. And while detectives from Suffolk's Hate Crimes Unit investigate, parents call on police to step up patrols in the area.
Stillerman says the community can overcome the negative incident by using it to highlight the value of tolerance.
