Police say two 20-year-old men were shot on Sutter and Euclid avenues in East New York Thursday afternoon.
Sources close to the investigation say the two victims are relatives.
Police tell News 12 they heard shots being fired at the location around 2:40 p.m. and found a male with a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have identified him as Darius Coles.
A second person was shot in the left leg and is said to be in in stable condition.
It's not the first incident that happened in this area. Just a few weeks ago, police say a 45-year-old man was grazed in the head by a bullet.
In November 2022, News 12 reported a 35-year-old man was fatally shot in this area.
News 12 spoke with residents like Kim Vargas, who said they were shocked by the violence. "It's really bad we live in these kinds of days," said Vargas.
Sources close to the investigation tell News 12 the suspect was last seen wearing a red tracksuit, a white shirt and white sneakers.
