A worker at a Smithtown apartment complex for seniors is accused of stealing from residents.
Suffolk police say 31-year-old Leonard Marino, who worked maintenance at Siena Village Apartment Complex on Bishops Road, was arrested Friday.
The Ronkonkoma man's current employment status is unclear. Police say he stole medication from one apartment in August, and pawned stolen jewelry twice in September.
They say they believe he sneaked into the apartments when the residents weren't home, or sometimes tricked people into letting him in. Police say he was seen entering an apartment without permission in November.
Marino would not speak with News 12 after he was released from court without having to post bail. He was charged with trespassing, possession of stolen property, petit larceny and drug possession for allegedly having heroin.
Police say there could be more victims and are urging residents to take stock of their belongings. Anyone who believes they have been victimized can call the Fourth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8466.
