A Winthrop medical center lab technician sexually assaulted a man with osteoporosis, police said Friday.
Police said the victim came to the facility for a sonogram on his legs following recent surgery. When he arrived for the exam, 56-year-old lab technician Ronald Caparella, of Glen Oaks, asked him to lie on the table.
"[The victim is] on the examining table waiting for the procedure to take place," Nassau Police Department Det. Sgt. Tony Repalone said. "This technician begins to fondle him, and then also proceeds to commit what we call criminal sexual act in the form of sodomy."
In a state of shock, police said the victim managed to get off the table and report the incident, which allegedly took place last Friday. The hospital suspended Caparella until the investigation is completed. His arraignment is scheduled for Saturday.
Police ask any other potential victims to come forward and contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.
