A Westbury man was arrested and remanded without bail for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend Wednesday night.
Prosecutors say Alvin Smith waited outside the victim's home on Nassau Road until she came outside. They say he then stabbed her multiple times in the neck and shoulder area. She now has a collapsed lung.
According to prosecutors, Smith has an "extensive history of terrorizing and committing crimes" against the stabbing victim, including an assault in September. He served four months of a six-month sentence in that case.
This latest attack happened just five days after he was released. The woman had an order of protection against Smith.
According to court records, Smith has 18 prior convictions.
