Wal-mart is entering the supermarket business on Long Island, but not everyone is excited for the store's debut.

Wal-mart's Neighborhood Market opened today in Levittown. However, customers were greeted by picketers from local labor unions.

They say the discount supermarket short-changes employees, and destroys local businesses.

Wal-Mart spokesman Bill Wertz says the new store is a boon for the community. "We're bringing jobs and affordable prices to Levittown, and the community is really excited about it," he says.

The market includes a pharmacy, deli, bakery, along with fresh produce, meat and dairy. It was supposed to open earlier this week, but was delayed due to permitting issues.
