Officials are searching for a man accused of robbing a Chase Bank at gunpoint in broad daylight over the weekend.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office says the suspect walked into the bank just before 2 p.m. Saturday on Myrtle Avenue, displayed a gun and demanded money.

Investigators say he was wearing a realistic skin mask, sunglasses, gloves, a suit and a dark-colored tie and fled with approximately $12,000. He is described as a white man in his 50s and is believed to have left in a silver or gray Honda Odyssey.

Customers and people in the area say they were shocked by the robbery, saying the timing and location — in a busy shopping area surrounded by businesses — made it even more alarming, with longtime residents calling it unusual for the neighborhood.

""I don't know what I would have done if I was in the bank. I probably would have froze," one resident said.

Anyone with information or surveillance video is asked to contact the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
