Fourth of July beach bonfires burned out of control Saturday night after residents said strong winds carried embers across Cedar Beach, sparking a fast-moving blaze.

Suffolk fire officials say they were notified of the fire on Harbor Beach Road in Mt. Sinai just after 9 p.m.

They say grass and an attached deck caught fire, but that there were no injuries.
