‘The slush will freeze’: Frigid temps spark black ice concerns on roads, sidewalks

Long Islanders are digging out after the largest snowstorm in years and with the dropping temperatures, streets are icing up. 
The Town of Brookhaven says about 430 vehicles worked through the night to treat roads in time for the morning’s rush hour.
Nassau County also says it kept trucks rolling through the night.
“The slush will freeze. We need to keep our guys out there salting and plowing, doing their work. It is a real concern, and again please exercise caution,” says Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
Suffolk police report there were 117 accidents in the county related to the storm.
In Nassau County there were 43, and police say 17 of those accidents involved injuries.
