Following this weekend's stormy weather, we are still dealing with strong wind across Long Island on this Presidents Day Monday, with scattered gusts up to around 55 mph through early this evening. It will stay dry other than an isolated flurry with a mix of sun and clouds. The wind will stay gusty overnight and through tomorrow, but will not be as strong as it is right now. The wind is also making it feel very cold with bitter cold continuing through tomorrow before the wind subsides.
THURSDAY SNOW CHANCES:
The storm the entire News 12 Storm Watch Team of meteorologists has been keeping a close eye on for days is continuing to trend away from Long Island. That said, there is still time for the track to adjust more in either direction. I would still plan on periods of at least snow showers on Thursday for now. If the storm tracks even further south and east, hardly any snow will fall. If the track moves a little more north and west, then snow totals will bump up slightly. On current projected track, expect a coating to one inch of snow throughout the day on Thursday with a small chance of one to two inch amounts across the east end of Long Island.
There are currently no other major storms on the horizon with dry weather the rest of the week and into the weekend with increasing high temperatures this weekend ahead of some possible rain on Monday of next week.
Have a great Monday!
