They stepped up to the plate for a cause.
A charity softball game was held at Syosset-Woodbury Park Wednesday night.
The proceeds benefitted Blood Cancer United, which is formerly known as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Two of the organizers of the event told News 12 they grew up playing softball together and started the summer tradition in memory of their mother and grandmother.
"Having the community come together to remember our family members means the world," Woodbury resident Hali Bodenstein said. "Because it's the one time of the year that we get to get back on the field together and just act like we're kids again having fun"
This marked the sixth year the charity softball game was held.
