Long Islanders will need to wait until next weekend to go for a swim in the ocean after all New York state beaches closed for swimming.
The closures are because of a high rip current advisory across the South Shore.
"You could literally be standing in ankle deep water and a large set could literally come right up the berm, right up the beach, and take you right out," said Jones Beach lifeguard supervisor Carey Epstein. "So while it's not your intention to go swimming, or get yourself in trouble, you could find yourself in trouble very easily."
