Suffolk County police unveiled a new hotline Tuesday to crack down on hate crimes.
Police say the information gathered from these incidents will be investigated by hate crime detectives to identify patterns and determine if outreach and education in the community is needed.
Commanding officer of the Hate Crimes Unit Nany Quattrociocchi says they rely on the public a lot in their investigations, so calling the hotline will benefit them tremendously.
The hotline number is 631-852-HATE. It is confidential, bilingual and will be manned by investigators Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.
