Stop and Shop has announced that it is tossing its bag-recycling incentive program on Sunday.

The supermarket chain's program had offered customers 5 cents per reusable bag. In a statement, the store said it wants to put its support behind other programs that continue to reduce harmful impacts to the environment.

Stop and Shop says it will still offer free plastic bag recycling in its stores.
