State police found a loaded gun during a traffic stop on the Long Island Expressway on May 29.
Police say they conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram pickup truck for multiple infractions near the village of Old Westbury. They recovered a Springfield XDM 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 19 9 mm rounds and also found a knife under the driver's seat.
A replica BB gun was also recovered.
Police say the driver, 42-year-old Orlando Silva Rodriguez, of Phoenix, Arizona was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon large capacity ammunition feeding device, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon – a dangerous knife.
Silva Rodriguez was arraigned Saturday, May 30, at Nassau County District Court.
