The Town of Southampton declared a State of Emergency on Sunday following a powerful thunderstorm that swept through the area Saturday night.

Town officials said the storm's high winds caused widespread damage to homes, infrastructure and other property, leaving many roads blocked and numerous residents without power.

Local officials discussed the damages and found that danger still exists to the public.

The emergency order will remain in effect until 9 a.m. on July 10.
