Smithtown's Frank DiMarco works in one of the most dangerous professions: horseshoeing.

He's suffered a torn rotator cuff, broken ribs, leg wounds, hip tears and even a fractured back. But despite DiMarco's near-death experience, his love for horses never wavers.

"It's in my blood," he says.

For the fun to begin, DiMarco picks out the right shoes and fires them up to fit the horse.

DiMarco says you can tell a lot about a horse by its eyes -- just as they can tell a lot about him.

DiMarco says "only a fool" wouldn't be afraid to get under a horse, but he says it doesn't make him nervous.

And despite his long list of broken bones and fractures, the irony of the lucky symbol of his job isn't lost on him.

"I guess I am," DiMarco says when it comes to being lucky.
