It's been quite the two-year journey for two sisters from Garden City - despite both getting diagnosed with cancer.
Mikaela Rix, 27, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Her 25-year-old sister, Marguerite, battled ovarian cancer two years ago.
The Rix sisters, who are now both cancer free, were able to turn a negative into a positive.
They raised money by running the Long Beach boardwalk last month to raise awareness for the cause.
Their boardwalk run raised more than $30,000 for their charity called "We fight like girls" to raise awareness about cancer and prevention.
The biggest lesson the sisters learned in their cancer fights is that they couldn't have gotten through it without each other.
