Several dozen runners who took part in the New York City Marathon on Sunday helped raise money for the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund at Stony Brook University.
This year, runners marked a major milestone – since the marathon fundraising for breast cancer research began a little more than a decade ago, a total of $1.1 million has been raised.
Carol Baldwin, the matriarch of the famous Baldwin clan from Long Island, was a breast cancer survivor who devoted many years of her life to raising money for research.
She died in 2022, and her children are now carrying the torch. Daughter Jane Baldwin-Sasso was at the marathon cheering on “Team Baldwin” runners, with pink balloons and a pink bell in hand.
