Denise Flores, of Shirley, says she was standing at her front door recording this video of Saturday's storm with her phone - when her whole house shook - and sent her running to the basement.
"It just knocked me over, everything fell off the walls, wood impaled into my house. I have holes in the side of my house. Very disturbing," she said.
The short but powerful storm hit her Shirley neighborhood hard. It knocked down trees and even ripped the roofs off several houses.
Long, sharp pieces of wood pierced Flores' bedroom wall.
Flores said in her house, all the walls are fractured. A building inspector told her that the house shifted.
She also said that the wind ripped the roof right off her neighbor's house and sent it crashing into hers.
Pieces of it can be seen all over her backyard and in her tree.
As she cleans up the mess, Flores is hoping insurance will help cover the costs to repair the damage.
The storm also caused damage to several businesses. It ripped down the metal awning and signage at a Chipotle on Montauk Highway in Shirley.
The restaurant was closed Sunday as crews cleaned the area.
Shirley residents, like Flores, say they are grateful they were not hurt during the storm.
