Hofstra's library and student center will remain open.
The walkway between the Saltzman Center and the Netherlands is an alternative use for students and staff to use by foot.
Hofstra released also released a statement to student and staff saying:

"After consulting with our engineers, the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of Hempstead, the unispan will remain closed until next week to facilitate required safety inspections and repairs. We will have more information in the next few days about the timeline for reopening.

For now, Hempstead Turnpike remains closed. Students who are moving between north and south campus should use the elevated walkway by Oak Street, or the cross walk at California Avenue. Police and Public Safety are stationed at both intersections to assist with safe crossings. Oak Street and Earle Ovington Boulevard remain the best routes on and off campus while the Turnpike is closed."
