A house was struck by lightning in Nassau County Thursday evening.

The Hicksville Fire Department responded to the home on Mayflower Drive around 6:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews began investigating a smoke haze in the basement of the structure.

Firefighters subsequently determined the incident was caused by a lightning strike, fire officials say.

There were no reported injuries.

News 12 has reached out to the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office for more information and are waiting to hear back.
