Retired Nassau police K-9 dies following 8 years of service

A retired Nassau police K-9 has died, the county announced Wednesday.

Kai joined the force in 2012 and retired in 2020.

Kai and his handler, Officer Chris Peters, made numerous arrests and conducted over 100 bomb sweeps during their time together.

The dog also made numerous appearances within the community, including at schools and other community events.
