Manhasset High School and Middle School students were dismissed at the regular time following a lockdown Thursday.The lockdown took place after a student reported seeing other students with a gun.
Nassau police say an eighth-grader observed three other students with what looked like a gun in the boys? bathroom around 9 a.m. According to police, the student told the principal, who immediately put the school in lockdown.
Nassau County police along with the Bureau of Federal Operations officers searched school grounds for the reported gun, but did not find anything.
Parents who showed up at the school during the lockdown were not allowed in the building, which houses both schools.
Students and parents remained calm during the lockdown. There were no reports of injuries. All after-school activities took place as scheduled.
