Rep. George Santos refuses to step down despite calls from Nassau Republicans

This morning, Rep. George Santos is defiantly refusing to resign from Congress amid calls from some of Nassau’s top Republicans after lying about everything from his education to family history.
Santos’ resume claimed he graduated from Baruch College, but it is now clear he never graduated from any college or university.
At a news conference Wednesday, Chair of the GOP Committee Joe Cairo says Santos is not welcome at Republican Headquarters in Westbury.
Earlier this week Santos said he's done nothing unethical — even though he already admitted to lying about his credentials.
Meanwhile, residents of the 3rd Congressional District are not holding out hope that Rep. Santos will get anything done for them.
A spokesperson for Rep. Anthony D'Esposito says they have gotten requests for help from people in Santos' district.
Santos’ district office is still closed and there is no set date for it to open.
The only way Santos could be removed from office would be a two-thirds vote from the House of Representatives.
