It's a shake-up at the top in Long Island's largest township – three-term supervisor Don Clavin resigned and Republican nominee for his job, John Ferretti, was sworn-in last week.
A bill introduced by a state lawmaker would have required a special election to fill a town supervisor vacancy. Instead, the Republican will serve as the supervisor at least until the end of the year and maybe longer depending on the outcome of November's election.
